I’ve been using Avast for many years now, since way back in the version 4.x days. Recently, after an upgrade sometime in 2015, the scan dialog that appears when right-clicking an item in Windows Explorer and starting a scan on it is blank except for the dark grey bars along top and bottom that display the Avast logo. The center, lighter section is completely blank.
Since this started happening, nothing ever appears to inform me that the scan is complete, but at least with version 10, I could check the scan logs and see that the scan had been completed and the file was found to be clean (or not). It was a poor workaround, but it was a workaround. Now, in version 11, I cannot even find a way to do that. I can turn logs on or off, but I cannot find a way to view them. Apparently that functionality has been moved to some other obscure part of the UI that I haven’t found yet.
So this is really two separate problems:
- Why is the scan result dialog blank? What happened to the valuable information that used to be displayed there? Why put up a blank dialog at all? Could something be wrong with my copy of Avast and, if so, how do I fix it without going through the whole uninstall/reinstall cycle?
- Where is the option to view scan logs/history in the UI?
