Using Avast 4.8 home-Free Antivirus on Windows 7, unable to scan my computer, memory checks out OK, then instruction block appears, but thats all, the block I use to get on XP to select what to scan does not appear. Any suggestions.

Has there always been this problem, or has it recently started?
What other security software is installed?
Lastly, what do you mean by the word “block”?
