I am trying out Avast and did a scan of my hard drive. When the scan finished I got a list of files that had been deleted during the scan, and some pending. I was not asked for permission to delete any of these files, it just went ahead. That is not right. Avast itself is a computer damaging virus! Is there any way to restore these deleted files before I remove Avast? The chest does not show these files, and they are not in the recycle bin.
U should take a look at the programs settings… n set them to ask u wat to do…
though I don’t know how u could restore the files…
Sorry, but that’s not true - avast! doesn’t automatically delete anything, you have to choose the corresponding option first.
If you really chose to delete the files, then there’s no other way of restoring the files, except possibly for using specialized 3rd party restoration tools.
I found in avast 5 beta on-access scan (don’t know about avast 4.8 ) default settings to move the file to chest first… then delete if unsuccessful…
It seems that it doesn’t ask for user’s choice…
Sry that I assumed that true…
These options (automated actions) are not present in the free version 4.8.
Are you sure that you have download the real avast?
There are several website out there that advertise them self as avast antivirus while they are something else.
There has been case of people downloading avast from one of those fake sites. Here is an example over at malwarebytes forum

Tech that means that avast will do the nessesary decision for us?
Yes. You can configure them differently the default ones. So, yes, avast will take the decision but you’ll be able to set the decision to be taken.
@ krasnit - Where have you gone?
What you say happened is not possible when running avast 4.8 unless you have set the instructions yourself. Like igor says.
Welcome to the forums, krasnit.
Please let us know which version (Home or Pro) of avast you have AND where did you get your avast from?
