Hi everyone. This is a recent problem i have experienced while scanning. I have a 186GB harddrive. 100GB used. Yet when i am running a scan, it gets to 90GB and the progress bar is at 3%. Can anyone help me please? Thanks alot.
This might be alright!
How many scanned GBs do you have in 100% ? I’m convinced it’ll be more than 100GB, because avast UI reports “amount of data tested” (ie. included unpacked archives).
I noticed in a boot time scan that the percent done is not a reliable measure of time. I had some archives that were big enough that the percent wouldn’t climb at all for about an hour and then tens of thousands of mp3 files that it climbed 50 percent in a few minutes.
Add that to what pk said about unpacking archives so that your data is actually bigger than normal and there isn’t any predictable outcome until you’ve run several scans and know how it will behave.
The content of archives isn’t included into the progress - because you can’t predict that. Computation of an exact prediction would take almost the same time as the scan itself, i.e. such a feature may double the scan time.
