avast reported this warning message after scan of hard drive. Is this a sign of virus? or just a error message?

In my opinion it’s a sign that you have a problem with the hard disk.
Try to run a disk check on the C: drive, including the surface scan (checking for bad sectors).

error-checking of hard drive did not report any error (I choose no automatic repair option during disk scan).
I instruct system(Vista) to perform full disk check during system boot. then I performed full virus scan on hard drive, the warning message is gone.
like you said, It could been disk error.
