scanning attached HD

Maybe someone can help?
I had boot a up problem on one of my other machines so I attached the drive to a another PC running avast and scanned that drive.
Avast found a virus but will not let me delete or move to chest “access denied” pops up. What do i need to do to allow me to delete or remove virus from the problem HD?

Thx
BNW

First, deletion isn’t really a good first option (you have none left), ‘first do no harm’ don’t delete, send virus to the chest and investigate.

What is the infected file name, where was it found e.g. (C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx) ?
Check the avast! Log Viewer (right click the avast ‘a’ icon), Warning section, this contains information on all avast detections. C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashLogV.exe

Files in use, protected need to be scanned outside the normal windows running. If you have XP, vista32bit or Win2k, you could enable a boot time scan. Right click the avast icon, select Start avast! Antivirus, a memory scan will take place followed by the opening of the Simple User Interface, Menu, ‘Schedule boot-time scan…’ Or see http://www.digitalred.com/avast-boot-time.php.
