yeh i had a read around and there didn’t seem to emerge a definative answer, just a lot of different opinions, is the consensus that there has been an upgrade recently that has fixed this?
Just for future consideration, since you have Ad-Aware,
their experts, including HijackThis ones, are at :
www.landzdown.com .
In the future, when you post an Ad-Aware logfile, uncheck
the "Search for negligible risk entries" setting ( so that the
no-threat "MRU"s do NOT appear in the scan results ) AND
check the "Search for low-risk threats" setting .
The "Expert" on the other forum missed your out-of-date
Sun Java, which is 3 Updates behind & a serious security
risk; should uninstall that version & any other Sun Java,
then go to www.java.com/en & get their latest .
Lastly, the "Expert" on the other forum recommended you
disable either your Ewido or A-squared "Real-time"
protection; since A-squared has the better "real time"
protection, I recommend you disable Ewido's .

Slightly off topic, but your opinion is really that A-Squared is better than Ewido? This goes against a lot of others’ thinking. I ask because I am about to buy Ewido (I am in the 14 day trial period), but did not consider A-Squared (though I do use its free scanner).
A lot of this depends on the OS. The general consensus is that if the OS is 2000 or XP, then ewido is the better. But, if the OS is W98SE or ME, then a-squared is better.
Of course, each person may have their own opinion about this.
I have read a "Discussion" on another forum that Ewido's
scanner is better than A-squared, but that A-squared's
"real-time" protection/shield is better than Ewido's . With
the recent false-positives from A-squared ( hope this does
NOT affect their "real-time" protection ), A-squared's
scanner appears to be "unreliable" .
