I noticed that in the simple user interface when selecting ‘folder selection’, I was not able to select a single folder without at least one of it’s subfolders also being selected. Is this by design or a little bug?
I was able to do it (ofcourse I would say) in the enhanced UI.
I see what you mean, I tried it and having selected a folder with sub folders all sub folders are selected but if you deselect all of the sub folders the main folder is also deselected.
I sort of got it to work after a fashion in the Simple UI, by ticking a single folder and deselecting all but one sub folders otherwise the main folder is also deselected.
I’m not sure if is is by design, thinking, if you want to check a folder you would also want to scan sub folders.
However if you are going to allow for the de-selection of some or all of the sub folders, why deselect the main folder when all sub folders have been deselected?
I see no reason except avast!, in this situation (unselecting the main folder), just scans the files inside of the main folder but not a sub folder at all… ??? :
Eddy, what exactly are you trying to do (select)?
I don’t see any difference between Simple and Enhanced UI, regarding this thing (except for the fact that the Area selection dialog shows even files, not just folders, in Enhanced UI - but it should behave the same otherwise).
In the Simple UI you can’t just select the main folder and exclude all sub folders otherwise the main folder is also deselected, you must have at least one sub folder selected.
Say you wanted to scan the windows folder but not the 806 (in my case) sub folders (or the system32 folder with its many sub folders) it can’t be done easily.
