Because avast started to scream about a file twice today i wanted todo a manual chack to. (no screaming then)
But tjeee, avast made that complex todo. Normal you would do the following.
Open avast in the taskbar, then go to scan. But hee, i cant select any drive partition or what ever i want to scan.
This need improvement, avast need option in the avast software for manual canning.
.
After a while i got the idea to look in “My Computer” i go ther every rare
because i use a much friendly piece of software named total commander todo my work.
It seems the hav eput a option into there to scan something manual.
.
Thats not user friendly !
Please put option in the avast software itself where you expect soemthing important like this.
Oh yes i found that option… but its doing nothing. you cant select the drive or map. ADD is just not active.
Or the did it in a very complex way.
Nothing more easy then just open a file dialog where yopu say i want to scan that and click ok.
But thats absolute not working in avast that way. No active add button.
Maybe there’s some misunderstanding here…
If you select this “Select folder to scan” task and click the “Start” button - that “Open a file” dialog appears, doesn’t it?
Yes, avast! also installs a shell extension - so you can simply select the file in Explorer or Total Commander, invoke the context menu and use the “Scan” option.
Ok, that worked. i see the problem. The modern GUI are not so good,
and because the are all flat and somethings things are placed on wrong locations i have missed the whole start button.
You dont see the start button as a button, move the
button to bottom right would maby already improve it. because you expect things there.
or give the button more a lets say 3D look.
Yes, i know i just did not looked good. but the button could be better to. :-[
I agree, the UI that designed is NOT intuitive!. I also clicked on the Add button and nothing happened.
Once I read the above instructions, I was able to run it. I also forgot about right clicking in Explorer and scanning from there. But you know, it would have saved me an hour (time trying to figure it out and then searching the Internet) had Avast just put simple instructions on the screen. Something like your sentence of “If you select this “Select folder to scan” task and click the “Start” button - that “Open a file” dialog appears, doesn’t it?”.
This would have saved me and the other person and I’m sure a lot of other a lot of time.
What a load of rubbish from pretty well everyone (except igor and Eddy). Just take a couple of minutes to learn the GUI. It’s not rocket science, and every option you could possibly want or need is there.
