I downloaded the new version of Avast today and tried to scan just the C Drive by creating a custom scan. However, even though I made sure only the C Drive was ticked, it still scanned the D Drive as well. I have run 3 or 4 scans and the D Drive is scanned each time. Am I doing something wrong or will it not let me select just one hard drive?
The custom scan if you look at the Scan Areas, All hard disks are pre-selected, image1.
The Select folder to scan would probably be better as you just check the C drive/Partition.
Or simply use the Quick scan, as that only scans the system volume (whatever drive windows is on) and memory, etc. this is a Quick scan. image2
Thanks David for your very quick reply! Yes I will give that a go. If all else fails I will revert to 4.8. Somehow I find that version more user friendly.
You would revert over something like this, there really are more permutation for scans in 5.0 than 4.8, so you would be taking a big step backwards. It will take a little getting used to, but shouldn’t be long; I have only been using 5.0 for just over 4 days (had a very brief sojourn with an early beta) and I’m relatively comfortable with it and where to find things.
Sussed it! I created a custom scan and whilst doing so went into exclusions and ticked the D Drive. I have done the scan and it did only scan the C Drive.
I guess a lot of the battle is getting used to it. I will persevere! Many thanks for your input folks!
You’re welcome.
Spend some time checking out the various areas and you will find it much better than 4.8, it is just getting used to something new.
