Scans/e-mail

have been using the Avast free 6.0.1203 since the first of the year, had the earlier version for a few yrs, what an improvement ! I usually run a full scan at least one a week and not one virus so far, also have spywareblaster and use cc cleaner, my question is lately things seem to take a little longer to open and slower in general,so I started to scan other areas looking for a problem,I found the “e-mail” scan which I have never done, it took a while when I returned 14 viruses OH MY all of them had java in the name,so into the chest,I’m very careful with e-mail and rarely open anything that looks suspect, I do have fly fisher friends that send videos and photos all the time but never noticed any problems. I had a problem with java a while back when I was prompted to up date, could not get it to work without removing the older version first and install the new one. should I delete the viruses or leave the in the chest
Thank you

Leave them for now. I mean, since it is mail, it should be safe to delete, but the chest is just as safe.
