Scheduled Scans

I have Avast Free and have scheduled a backup every Sunday at 6:00 PM
The system first makes a quick backup and THEN a full backup
How can I change it so it only does a full backup?

There are many back-up software utilities online.
Personally I’ve been doing manual back-ups in Windows.
I put my back-ups on an external HDD. Mine is 1 TB in size.
I can back-up individual files/folders and a complete back-up.
Don’t forget to burn a rescue disk just in case your machine won’t boot.

Side note: I don’t schedule mine I prefer to be at my laptop to make sure what I want backed-up is backed-up.

Not sure I follow…you already do “backups” or are you talking Avast "scans ?
In Avast Free V8 (not on 2014/V9 yet) go into Avast GUI, then Security, then A/V…list of SCANs there…I created my own custom.
However, under any scan go to More Details, then Settings, then Scheduling.

If you are looking for very good backup software there are a lot of “paid” very fancy ones.
However, if you want a GREAT “FREE” one (Free means only full backups) then Macrium Reflect is it.
FYI, the one in Windows can have issues with Shadow Copy and your image can be corrupt without you knowing it until restore…BAD time to find out. http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx
I do full image backup (W7 64-bit) with low compression on in Macrium for 150GB used space of a 500GB to a 500GB HDD nightly in about 35 minutes.
Like most of these backup image software Macrium lets you create a boot/recovery disk…and you can also mount the “image” within Macrium to pull/copy files.

Wowww I goofed Yes its scheduled scans

First it does a quick one and ThEN a FULL

How can I change that

Merry Christmas

What is Avast GUI?

Avast>Scan>[scan eg full]>Settings>Scheduler

That will tell you how and when it’s scheduled. To disable it, just uncheck “schedule this scan”

GUI = Graphical User Interface.

In other words, the screen that opens when you open avast!.

Thanks

THe problem I have is that it appears as only ONE " Scheduled Scan" with this name but it does TWO back to Back
First a Quick and THEN a full

Pls help

You need to customize the setting for BOTH quick and full scan. The drop down menu will indicate which scan settings you are changing.

I believe I might have solved the problem

I had created a scan called Scheduled Scan"

Also I might have scheduled another by going into scan>Quick>schedule

I proceeded to delete the scan created by me with name"scheduled scan"
Then I went into
Avast>Full> schedule and scheduled one once a month

Then I went back to Avast>scan>quick>schedule and scheduled another once a week

Have I written the correct procedure?

Merry Christmas to all of you

You did it right. 8)
