I am trying the Avast Pro version.
Am I correct is saying that a scheduled task will not run unless Avast is open.
The programme is running in the tsk bar ok.

No - the scheduled task will run even if the user interface is not open (even if nobody is currently logged on, actually).
The corresponding session will be created - so you can check the results in the Enhanced User Interface later.
Of course, check if anything else is blocking the action: firewall, system injection (code) monitor tools, etc.
