I’ve noticed recently that I scorecardresearch.com has popped up benignly (i.e., blue spike) in network shield every once in a while. I just did an MBAM and avast! boot scan a couple days ago, nothing showed up in regards to it. I had done an unrelated AdwCleaner run (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=135323.msg990589#msg990589).
I told my router to block the website, and I just did a spybot scan and nothing showed up.
Is there anything I should be worried about? (this image is from after having my router block the site)
Update:It turns out Gamefaqs.com (a site I frequent) uses scorecardresearch, might be the cause.
from what i read about “b.scorecardresearch.com”, i don’t think it is anything to worry about, as far as malware goes (despite the comments about it at “mywot” )…
according to “virustotal”, “b.scorecardresearch.com” is not blacklisted by anyone, and google’s “safe browsing” also says that “b.scorecardresearch.com” is clean…
however, i did see where some people said that they had issues with webpages being slow to load, which they attributed to “b.scorecardresearch.com”, so i suppose it could be a problem in that sense…
supposedly, “b.scorecardresearch.com” is just used for “tracking”…
you could use a HOSTS file to block “b.scorecardresearch.com”… here is a webpage with some information about using a HOSTS file:
http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm
also, if you used the “firefox” browser, along with the “adblock plus” addon, “b.scorecardresearch.com” is blocked by the “adblock plus” addon when you use the “easylist” blocklist with it… (the “easylist” blocklist is automatically installed with the “adblock plus” addon)…
