I want to use the Screen-Saver task, but can’t work out how to select “avast! antivirus” in my Screen control panel - screen-saver setting. The only screensaver I run is the Windows XP one (Starfield), but there is nowhere in the settings that I can find any reference to Avast. I assume I am misunderstanding the Help file directions. Can someone please provide instructions as to how to set up the ScreenSaver task? No doubt it’s simple, but not for this simpleton!
When you right click on your desktop (any open space on it.)
Select properties at the bottom of the drop down.
Then Select Screen savers from the buttons on top of the box.
under the picture of the monitor It will probably say Starfield,as that is your chosen screen saver.
Hit the down Arrow and select Avast Screen saver.
See there is really no standalone Avast screen saver.
It runs in the one of your choice.
once you have it selected,It should start running inside of the star field screen saver.
You will see a blue box moving across the star field as it scans.
If Avast Screen saver is just not in the drop down list at all,I am lost too.
Thanks a lot, normishmael! Got it.
Glad to help!
Does this apply to the Home or Pro version of avast?
I have home version, and in the dropdown box there is an option for the avast screensaver; but I thought it was possible to set this to work with any screensaver. I have a slideshow of family pictures that I prefer and would like avast to work with that if possible.
Thanks
Hello zzzrabbit:
Please forgive the late response.
Yes, you can do what you want to do by selecting Avast Screen saver from the menu, then open settings, and choose “my pictures slide show”.
Avast should then run inside My Pictures Slide show.

It is available in both.
