Screesaver Notification?

I’m running avast! 6.0.1000, and I’m using the screensaver scan. It runs regularly, since the computer rarely turns off. Recently, I noticed the box had turned red. I knew that usually meant it found something., but when it exited the scan it didn’t give an alert. It didn’t matter whether I let it complete the scan or not(I have looping turned off).
Now, because I knew the change in color meant it found something from previous experience, I went and looked at the logs. Sure enough, the logs showed detections. I was never notified or given an option for an action.
There was no serious infection, just a couple files in temp folders with no symptoms, but I would like to know why there was no notification.
I’ve looked through the options, and found nothing. Automatically Open Scan Results is checked. Detection/Update sounds are on as well.

I would think that there should be a Pop-up warning after you logged in.

If not, then in my opinion, that is something that should be fixed.

The computer is logged in while the screensaver is running.
I don’t have it sent to ask for password on exit.

There is a chance of a false positive being detected and then corrected with the next virus definitions update.
In the scan logs folder, there should be the log for the screensaver scanning.

The logs were there, and like I said they detected the files. They had actually detected them numerous times, and when I ran a quick scan, it found and quarantined them, and requested a boot scan.
Boot scan found a couple things, in the java cache, so I ran TFC by Old Timer to clean them.

You’ve done very well

Thank you, but the question still remains why the notification didn’t happen.

I’m guessing but You’re asking why it hasn’t put them in the Virus chest earlier. …it would depend on how you have your Shields set…Do you have them set to send to The Virus Chest…Probably the File Shield, in “Expert Settings” or the screen saver shield…Also is it the JS SCRIPT? If so this is a Trojan and you could have Reminants or more of it …or those could have been the Reminants…

I guess I’m not explaining well. I apologize.
When you exit the avast screensaver, it should notify you when it’s found something. This used to be with a pop up. It didn’t do that this time. The only reason I knew it found something was because I happened to glance at the screensaver while it was running, and I noticed the box was red instead of blue.
I know it wouldn’t automatically do anything with the files that it’s found, because it’s set to ask.
The system had no symptoms to start with and further scans are clean.

Bump

OK I just checked mine and I found that default settings are take no action… I think this needs to be raised.

So I went into the settings page and set mine to send to chest

In Your “Scan Computer” options under “Scans” “Screen saver” “Actions” There is no Option to Ask …Only Delete, move to chest, repair, No Action…The Only Scan that has the action “ASK” is a Boot time Scan and the “Sandbox”
However Your “Real Time Shields” do have the Ask Option…So If you were …Executing, Opening, Writing, Attaching, or if malicious programs were doing these actions it would Trigger the “Ask” Action…And You would be notified with a Pop Up…If that’s the way you ave them set…In Your Case the computer was running for a certain period of time and the screen saver appeared which then triggered a Screen Saver “Scan” Correct me if I’m wrong
Hopefully I am answering as to what you are asking this time if not …than Hopefully you can try again or hopefully some one else will beat me to it next time…Or maybe you’ll get a few more answers…Cheers!!! and Safe Surfing!!..

I have put forward a request to change the settings to allow ask for the screensaver settings

So for a standard screensaver scan at the moment it will just report and not do anything unless you set it to move to chest. The best alternative would be to add an ask option…

I’ve double checked and it wasn’t set to do anything automatically. It did nothing, no alert, no ask. Just nothing. However, since it wasn’t set to do anything automatically (including Nothing), shouldn’t that be the same as “Ask”?

No 'tis just a reporting function with the do nothing option the default - but as I say this has been put forward for alteration

Thank you for your answer.
