Ok, I did a search for this using “script blocker” “Which script blocker” “What script blocker” etc. Didn’t find what I was looking for. My question is this. For people who are running the free home edition of Avast, what are you using for a script blocker? If I missed an already existing thread on this…please link me to it!
I have had no problems out of Script Sentry. Jason updates it whenever a New Microsoft OS comes out. i.e. version 2.8.x will come out when Longhorn is released
Ok, thanks for the info. I read a little bit about script defender the other day. They said that although it hasn’t been updated in awhile, it is better than script sentry because you can add your own scripts for it to protect against. Have you tried script defender?
yes I have, however, it has some sort of conflict with F-Secure AV. So I had to use Script Sentry. The choice is yours of course. But Script sentry is really effective. I have found no bugs or flaws. And It works Great with XP
Yes you WOULD think. But these are the two well known ones. And as you can see Script sentry is updated only with the new OS now that Jason has included all the features.
By the way Script sectry has a Forum. I will give you the link if you want
I prefer to run Script Defender with avast Home rather than Script Sentry because of exactly what you said Tipton, you can add your own scripts to be blocked.
Unlike Script Sentry you wont have to wait for the program to be updated to be able to block new scripts. The only downside to that is that you need to be up on any new security issues to know if there’s a new script that you need to block.
