Why do i get a script error every time I start outlook ever since I installed this software?
It reads.
An error has occurred in the script in this page.

URL: outlook today

Do you want to continue running script on this page?
Yes / NO ??

We will need more information to be able to help you:

  • Which OS are you using? Is it up to date?
  • What avast! version and VPS file (virus database) number?
  • Do you use a firewall? Which one?
  • Do you have any other antivirus installed in your system?
  • Any other security programs that could interfere?
  • Any useful information into Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Events, specially ‘Errors’.

The os is windows xp
i have the latest home edition of avast
my windows firewall is dis-abled
no other anit-virus or security programs ever on this computer
brand new computer- just got 2 days ago.
all was running fine w/outlook untill i installed avast last night.

Make sure the avast plugin is not disabled into MS Outlook:
Outlook 2007 > Tools > Trust center > Add-inns > Manage Disabled items.
Outlook 2003 > Help > About > Disabled items.
Outlook 2000 > Tools menu > Options > Other > Advanced Options > Add-In Manager.

Did you change any Internet script setting? Like into IE security settings?

no changes were made to ie script settings.
went to add-inns and no dis-able application addins.

when i go to manage exchage client extentions
an add in manager screen comes up and avast 4 is listed-
should i install & if so what file name should i use.

Hmm, this doesn’t sound like an avast issue. You could try uninstalling it and see if it makes a difference… :-\
