Suddenly this afternoon, there’s a Script shield alert that http://att.my.yahoo.com contains an infected script and it’s been moved to the virus chest (that’s been my home page for years). It won’t let me report it as false positive; when I click on that link, no matter what info I fill in the blanks, it tells me that all fields must be properly filled in. It will not accept the checked blocks of “trusted source” or “I know what I’m doing”.
All this on top of AIS still not recognizing that I actually do have an installed browser, that IE is continuing with sudden shut downs/system errors since I paid for and installed AIS 02/25/2011. Had posted on 02/27/2011: “I upgraded to avast!Internet Security 25 Feb. The Webrep section says there is no installed browser; I’ve been running IE8 since it came out. I called iYogi but couldn’t understand a word. Yesterday, for the first time ever, I had shutdown–event log said it was a Windows 5.2 system error ID 1003 “krnl_crash” with no MS Knowledge Base articles…just too freaky for me”–I’m no tech, but is something amiss with this AIS?
I did a fresh install 02/27/2011: 1/ Uninstall current version normally via control panel.
2/ Download the uninstaller (http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear6.exe)
3/ Run the uninstaller in Safe Mode
4/ Reboot and install AIS 6.0 from scratch (http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_ais.exe)—but as of this past week, the scheduling times for automatic scans changed by themselves, can’t report false positives and Script shield errors, the WebRep is still incorrect, now getting false positive Script shield errors, start up load time is really slow, even this box I’m typing in is jumping all over the place…
Any suggestions please?
