Can somebody help me please.

Are you using Windows XP?
Can you schedule a boot-time scanning?
Start avast! > Right click the skin > Schedule a boot-time scanning
Select for scanning archives.
Boot.

Thanks for the help, I try what you told me but it find nothing. And yes I’m using Windows XP.

Any other idea ?

Thanks for your help, I reinstall Avast and the problem seem gone !

If I were you, I’ll boot in Safe Mode (F8 while booting) and run avast! from there or, at least, run a deep avast! scanning and other antispywares applications too.

This will maybe look stupid but I restart my pc and return on the internet and the virus is back…

How can I start avast when I boot with f8 ?

Thanks again to help me…

It’s not stupid, it’s a virus :stuck_out_tongue:

SafeMode (repeatedly press F8 while booting): http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315222
Then run avast! from Start Menu > avast! antivirus > avast! link

I know it’s a generic answer but, can’t you scan your system with antispywares and antitrojans applications?
Ad-Aware, Spybot Search and Destroy, A-squared, Ewido or Microsoft AntiSpyware (freewares).
TrojanHunter or TDS-3 (sharewares).

Antispyware applications (freeware): download, install, update and run it.
Ad-Aware
Spybot Search and Destroy
Spywareblaster
A-squared
Ewido
Webroot Spy Sweeper:
Microsoft AntiSpyware
X-Cleaner Free

For antiTrojans see the sharewares bellow (download, install, update and run it, you can test it for some days):
TrojanHunter
TDS-3

Please try to repair avast!, it seems like damaged VPS/program, because this virus is quite old (1995).

Hi there, i have got the same problem here today.
I downloaded some binaries from newsgroups with the program grabit, avast said a .par2 file contained this virus.
I thought hey not in my par 2 file i need, i will scan and try to repair later (pretty dumb…), I just thought as long as i don’t run it there is no problem.

Since then i got the same message everytime i connect to a web page.
When i drop the connection and reload the page it does work.

I have had everything updated, firewall, microsoft anti spyware, router firewall.

Don’t worry, i am a microsoft mcp, so i should be able to solve it ;D, i just dont dare to reinstall avast because that’s the only thing that blocks the activity’s of the virus i think and i would have to de-install it first?

Haven’t seen any other activity on my network connection yet, i quickly emptied the allowed apps in my firewall so i can monitor that to.

Well i’ll let you know my solution for me.

Hi there, i have got the same problem here today.

J’ai le même problème.

Salutations.

Hello!

I have the same problem.
Popped up today when i started the computer on different sites…

Hey im getting this same problem too. Started last night after i installed a demo of F.E.A.R.

Anyways, I did all the scans/updates/checks i could.
I loaded in safemode:

  • Did a thorough scan with Avast
  • Did a full scan with trendmirco’s HouseCalls
  • Ran Spyware Doctor

And Still, when i go back to normal windows mode, i get the virus pop up on all the pages i visit!

any help would be greatly appreciated. thx

I solved it on my pc.
Chocoloco is indeed right.
What did i do?
I scanned my pc with symantec online virus scanner → nothing.
Scanned it with Avast normal scan and then with the boot up scan (inclusive archives) → nothing.
I re-installed avast form the website en then through the add/or remove programs in windows.
So i don’t know which did the job.
Anyways, then i did a reboot and it’s gone.
I still think it’s strange that a .par2 file damages Avast?
Or why is anyone spreading 10 year old virusses? Or wasn’t anyone doing that?
Very weird, but it’s solved so to seem.
bye, M 8)

I did the same, but it does not work out, so the problem (even writing this message) is still there, Ard

Well i got rid of it (for a bit) after i uninstalled and reinstalled Avast!

Now about 1 hr later, it is back again, so i uninstalled/reinstalled again, and its temporarily gone.

Does anyone know a better solution then reinstalling the program?

Won’t this help?

Maybe the next VPS update correct this problem… I hope so.

Oh, I’ve forgot, to avoid reinstallation, maybe you can try to repair your installation: go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair). You must be connected to the internet while repairing.
But with this problem, I think that only a VPS update will correct.

??? Last night it was gone, this morning it’s back since i picked up my mail.
It found the virus in several mailing list mails that never ever contain virusses and suddenly now they all contain it…
I don’t think it’s a virus, but repairing or reinstalling avast doesn’t seem to work.

Very, very weird. I don’t get it…

I’ll just shut down now and look in to it tonight again.

Installing another program is just to easy, avast is a great program.

Hope someone sends in a solution.

hi! i had the same problem… now i have reinstelled avast and i set the updates on manual. No problem for the moment.

I really think it’s a program error.
I installed Antivir besides avast just to be sure and it never alarms me of any virus.
seems some other people have this to? What did you do when it happened to you?
My reason is mentioned above ::slight_smile: in an earlier post.
