searchconduit.com

Somehow search.conduit.com appears when I sign on to the internet rather than my home page. I have deleted the program to no avail. I am running windows 8 and internet explorer.
Would appreciate information as to how to get it off my computer.
Thanks

Hi,

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (
http://www.mcshield.net/personal/magna86/Images/FRST_canned.png
) by Farbar and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

[*]Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
[*]Under Optional Scan ensure “Driver MD5” are ticked.
[*]Press Scan button.
[*]It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
[*]The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

Attaching Frst.txt & addition.txt

I don’t think FRST got attached in previous message.

Hi ERNIEG34,

or two. Let it run uninterrupted to completion.
[*]Once it’s finished it should reboot your machine. If it does not, please manually reboot the machine yourself to ensure a complete clean.

My lack of computer knowledge is showing up as I am having trouble with the first part of your instructions. I copied and saved fixlist.txt to my desktop. I’m not sure what you mean by having Frst and fixlist.txt in the same location. I now have three separate files in desktop–FRST_31-12-2013-12-03-04, ADDITION and fixlist. I went to the nest step and tried to run FRST/FRST64 (typed c:\frst\logs\frst/frst64.txt) and get message that windows can’t find he file.
I’m stuck here??

Now I see where the problem is. FRST has been run from temp location. In other words, FRST has been run directly through the browser.

Running from C:\Users\billg_000\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\DMY1F9R9

When you have been create FixList.txt (script for FRST.exe) it needs to be located in same location as FRST is (eg. Desktop or Download folder).

Download fresh FRST. Make sure FixList it somewhere near it and press Fix button. FRST.exe shall search FixList.txt near itself for for execution.

I was able to follow your instructions and have eliminated search conduit.
Thanks very much, you have been a big help
Bill

If you say so …

Instructions clearly require reports for review but Ok. Good workman always cleans up after himself.
The following will implement some post-cleanup procedures:

=> Please download DelFix by Xplode to your Desktop.

Run the tool and check the following boxes below;

http://www.mcshield.net/personal/magna86/Images/checkmark.png
Remove disinfection tools

http://www.mcshield.net/personal/magna86/Images/checkmark.png
Create registry backup

http://www.mcshield.net/personal/magna86/Images/checkmark.png
Purge System Restore
Click Run button and wait a few seconds for the programme completes his work.
At this point all the tools we used here should be gone. Tool will create an report for you (C:DelFix.txt)

The tool will also record healthy state of registry and make a backup using ERUNT program in %windir%\ERUNT\DelFix
Tool deletes old system restore points and create a fresh system restore point after cleaning.

I have run DelFix per your instructions.
Thanks again
