If you search the word nelson on Google, you get a virus alert. Anybody know why this is happening?
I’m using the home edition, btw.

Hi There, I typed the word “nelson” in google search and there was no virus alert on mine.
I need to see the avast! warning text, please.
I don’t, firefox 3.0.1 NoScript, with web shield enabled.
What version of avast are you using, 4.8.1229 is the latest ?
What VPS version are you using, 080828-0 is the latest.
Hi folks,
For what I can see here, this is a “hoax”.

Although I got no alert from avast, the below photos may be a clue to why some have gotten these alerts. I am guessing, though, that those who are getting the alerts are not just googling Nelson without clicking on the infected site.
Brilliant CharleyO,
Very good find and proof that you do your link-checking like it should, the site you mentioned, will indeed infect with a IFrame exploit, see the DrWeb’s AV-hyperlink checker plug-in info:
Checking: hxxp://thenelsonbrothers.com/
Engine version: 4.44.0.9170
File size: 3154 bytes
hxxp://thenelsonbrothers.com/ - archive HTML
hxxp://thenelsonbrothers.com//JavaScript.0 infected with Exploit.IFrame
hxxp://thenelsonbrothers.com//JavaScript.1 - Ok

WOT failed miserably…
K9 got it
Since we have not had a response from the original poster I don’t think we should waste any more time on it; as to me it is clear that simply doing a scan with google doesn’t raise an alert unless you take further action, like visit one of the links.
Whilst WOT might have let you down, avast doesn’t reporting vbs:malware-gen on ‘the neslon brothers dot com’ site. However, WOT isn’t scanning for malware ???
