I updated my Firefox to 3.5.2 a few days ago,and ran Secunia online this morning with the following results:
"This installation of Mozilla Firefox 3.5.x is insecure and potentially exposes your system to security threats!
The detected version installed on your system is 3.5.2, however, the latest patched version released by the vendor, fixing one or more vulnerabilities, is 3.5.2."
They say I need 3.5.2 they say I have 3.5.2
Mozilla says no updates available, and “help+About Mozilla Firefox” also says I
have 3.5.2.
Anyone else getting this?
thanks
Update: Downloaded Firefox 3.5.2 Exe,and over write existing installation, same results from Secunia.
This installation of Mozilla Firefox 3.5.x is insecure and potentially exposes your system to security threats!
The detected version installed on your system is 3.5.2, however, the latest patched version released by the vendor, fixing one or more vulnerabilities, is 3.5.2.
However, I wouldn’t be worried. It is most likely to be a glitch or simply it is not yet updated to the latest software database.
The fault lies at secunia then I would assume. Either that or the file properties of whatever file it examines to find the firefox version hasn’t been updated.
However, since windows add remove programs correctly identifies the version, see image, I can only assume the problem lies at the Secunia door.
And now Secunia’s database seems to have been updated.
Mozilla Firefox 3.5.x is up-to-date. The detected version installed on your system is 3.5.2, which either corresponds to or is newer than the latest secure version released by the vendor.
Yes Sir,we are back in business.
SunJava is still adding its delightful "Java QuickStart"entry/process/Firefox plugin…
If anyone is sensitive about these things, the FireFox plugin can be removed by
regedit
(HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mozilla\Firefox\extensions).
The Process can be stoped by Java console+Advanced+Misc+unchecking the Quick start box.
I tried removing the entire jqs exe from C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin,and that did not work so well. It took forever for example for the applet to load on Secunia.
So I restored it.
The Regedit and java console method caused no slow down.
