I have been battling DNS attacks for quite a few years now and it is frustrating and time consuming. earlier this week i noticed that i have a Comodo still had a service that was running in my services. I had removed Comodo I.S./Firewall thoroughly along time ago before installing Avast free. Avast was working great so upgraded to AVAST Premier. so i ran the Comodo clean tool and its still there the service is Comodo Virtual service manager. i am not sure but i think it has one of my programs sandboxed. when i ran the Comodo cleanup tool it shut off Microsoft security Center and the baseline filtering was not functioning. then i noticed that Avast websheild and Secure DNS were off when i go to turn it on it just defaults back to off, and then when i go to turn on websheild it goes on but when i exit the Components or try to turn on Secure DNS it goes off. so i did some searching and found that there is malware that will delete the Registry Key for Microsoft Security Center;
I followed the instructions to the T and that turned Microsoft Security Center back on and the Baseline filtering is working. Problem now is that Avast is still not enabling the Secure DNS or Websheild. I scanned with Avast Internet Home security and all is fine. question is that when i look at the services on my computer in the Home Network Security there are several UNKNOWNs?
I sent a Support ticket a few days ago to AVAST and havent got a response.
Also, in the past i had dealt with a gen!Eldorado i dont know if it is still maybe is on my Storage drive (that was a system drive) some how. i have had multiple scans from me and other PC tech Professionals and they have said that it is clean.
in the past i have had false positives with the Gen! virus and it and it disables or deletes valid code. i need to get Avast Premier repaired Because i dont think i have the Gen! virus on my computer.
I am trying to get Avast Secure DNS and websheild to work. and so i am looking at the event viewer and noticed the service control manager was unable to start aswStm.sys (avast! Antivirus Stream Filter driver). Due to the following error: Insufficient resources exist to complete the requested service. Event ID 7000.
Thank you for responding, yes i need to learn all i can, about all i can, so thank you.
Avst was working fine until i tried to use the COMODO Cleanup tool again. I had thought i uninstalled COMODO thoroughly before installing AVAST but somehow it returned and so now here i am. I think i am going to try and call COMODO.
