So I was thinking of signing up to Secureline (especially in light of the UK’s ridiculous snooper’s charter being passed, meaning everyone in the UK will be considered guilty by default and spied upon at all times by ISPs), but I have a few questions:
First, is the licensing for a single platform only? i.e- am I supposed to pay separately for Windows and Mac? The page doesn’t make this very clear.
Second, how many devices does a single license cover? I have at least five devices I’d like to protect (family machines, plus media centre), plus I run Windows under virtualisation on my main Mac, but using its own ethernet port (so it would need to opt into Secureline itself as another device, despite being on one physical computer). However, these are all my machines (I bought an own them, they just have other users).
Lastly, there’s no compatibility listed for Linux in general, but Linux supports most VPNs just fine; is it possible to obtain details for manually configuring the connection? In addition to my computers I also have a NAS that uses the internet for various services, so I’d like to be able to configure that as well.
We will be introducing a license that will cover all platforms early next year. I will allow you to purchase the license, activate it on any platform, as many times as you want, with the only limitation being no more than 5 connections at any one time.
are there any information that Avast will launch Avast SecureLine at all platforms (including Linux) in following months of this year? If so, when will it be?
We got conformation from Avast that they are aiming to launch multi-platform subscription for Avast SecureLine in the ( current ) Q2 of this year.
I don’t know about Linux though …
Greetz, Red.
P.S. I had hoped they would include/combine it with HMA ( Hide My Ass ) from AVG, but that don’t seems to be the case.
I had a similar problem. In my case the Avast support person just told me the problem was in my computer. I had Just paid for a 2 year license. Avast refuses to refund my money and refuses to help me get it fixed. I just went with betternet. All I was doing was using the VPN to bypass some filtering. While it seems to work great I am planning to remove ALL of avast off my computer when my current antivirus subscription runs out.
