I am trying out Avast products for the first time. I am finding when running SecureLine VPN it significantly reduces my Internet download speed. For example, when I enable SecureLine VPN to New York my speed over speedtest.net using both a local server and a New Your server it’s about 27 mbps download. If I turn it off and take the test again to local and also to New York it’s about 115 mbps. I am located in Charlotte, NC so there really are not any other choices on the East Coast to choose from in the SecureLine VPN server list. There should not be that much overhead in the VPN to reduce speed by that much. Please advise, is this speed in the VPN a hard cap?
The location of the VPN server doesn’t matter for the speed.
It depends on how busy it is on that server and if you download using the torrent protocol, choose a server that the optimized symbol for torrents.
Just select the server that gives the best result at that time.
Speedtest just gives a indication.
If you really want to test the speed, download a e.g. 250Mb file from different locations at different days/times and write down how long they take.
same problem in uk best speed without secure line connected is 33mbps
with secure line connected has dropped to as little as 2.5mbps
not very good >:(
and having to search for best at certain times ?
think it wil stay disconnected and cancelled come renewal time >:(
