Have got XP Pro & SP2.SECURITY CENTRE SAYS THAT VIRUS ALERT REPORTS AVAST IS TURNED “OFF”.WHAT DO I DO,PLEASE?

I suggest:

  1. Check the date and time of your system.

  2. Repair your avast! installation through Control Panel.

  3. Are you using any other antivirus or security program besides avast?

  4. Did you use in the past?

  5. How are the 4 avast services starting? Automatically, Manually or Disabled?

Hi, are there any news regarding this problem? It happened to me for the first time a few days ago. Before, it was running without any problems.
I tried the suggested workarounds but nothing helped. I used Spybot S&D and AdAware to scan my systems for spyware but it seems to be clean. No prob with date & time, repair option for avast did not help.
gpedit cannot be started by the same reason, which was reported by another user in the upper mentioned thread

Is there any other soution? It seems to me that this problem occurred for several users within the last few weeks.
