Hello. My name is Mihai.I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy S2 and I installed Avast with root permissions.
The problem is : with Avast installed and running and Anti-theft on,everything works great. But if I go in the Task Manager and kill the app,no anti-theft command is working anymore. So,someone steals my phone and, before I can issue a sms text or web command, the thief kills the app from the task manager. Until the thief changes the SIM,he/she can use my phone, have access to my data, etc.
How can I solve this ? Are my Avast settings wrong ?
Thank you.
I killed it using the build in Task Manager. Long press on the physical middle button,Task Manager/Exit (Avast app)
Doing that the remote commands no longer work until I start again the Avast app.
I think I am missing something (or maybe you are). The MAIN application will always appear as “Avast” in the task manager, plus there is the notification icon (which can be disabled,I know).
So,is there a way to install Avast main app under a different name (not the anti theft/device administrator part, which I already installed under a different name) ?
So,is there a way to fix this problem or should I keep the Avast top bar notification off and hope the thief doesn’t open the Tank Manager and kills the app ?
PS: The second choice takes control from my hand and puts into the bad guy’s hand. And control is the main reason I installed Avast !
I don’t understand why a launcher (eg : Nova launcher) is not present on Task Manager and it is not affected by “clear RAM” or “end all tasks” but Avast is. If it is possible for a launcher then it must be possible to do it for Avast, too !!
Try with Nova launcher. It doesn’t appear in SGS2 ICS 4.0.4 stock Task Manager and either “clear ram” or “end all tasks” have no effect on it.
If they (the ones that made Nova) can do it,then it can be done. What I mean is : if they found a way for the Task Manager not to show and to have no effect on Nova launcher, then there is a way and Avast team should find it. Because, in the present state, this is a big security flaw that makes Avast (almost) useless in anti-theft situations.
