send to chest instead of delete

A scan found a virus on my system. It was recommended to sent to the the chest instead of deleting it. I was surprised because there appears no reason to keep a virus on my computer when I can delete it and get rid of it.

I would just as soon delete the virus unless there’s some reason not to. Can someone clarify this?

Thanks,

Blindy

Not all viruses are always real viruses. :) Sometimes, they are what's called false positives. (They look like smell like but aren't really a virus) Putting the file into the chest, allows it to be recovered. Deleting it allows no recourse.

;Dyeah bob3160 is correct just wait for two weeks and when nothing went wrong to your puter those viruses are safe to delete  good day to all fourm members!!!

Deletion isn’t really a good first option (you have none left), ‘first do no harm’ don’t delete, send virus to the chest and investigate.

There is no rush to delete anything from the chest, a protected area where it can do no harm. Anything that you send to the chest you should leave there for a few weeks. If after that time you have suffered no adverse effects from moving these to the chest, scan them again (inside the chest) and if they are still detected as viruses, delete them.
