Sending Outlook Exp email

I have 2 email addresses with the same ISP, I can send and receive with one and only receive with the other through Outlook Express. I have been going around in circles trying to get an explanation and nobody seems to know what is causing it. I just got another that said it could be caused by Avast settings, now I am totally confused. I use WinMe and have been told to change to Win98 or upgrade to WinXp because of a problem with ME but this is not an option and sounds unlikely. When I try to send with my default address a box pops up asking for name and password but it is already there in the box. I also use Netscape and Yahoo mail and I can use my ISP’s web mail with no problems. Any help, suggestions would be appreciated. Don

Does the smtp authentication settings are the same?
Can you see if your two email accounts are configurated with the same?

Both of my accounts show Incoming Pop3 127.0.0.1 and Outgoing Smtp 127.0.0.1, in the settings “use same settings as incoming mail serv” is checked also authorization is also checked in both. The only thing I can see that is different is in the Incoming mail server properties donagl@adv-tech.com (this my default that won’t send) and in the other it has lacombeconst#mail.adv.tech.com. I have tried switching with no different results. Why would there be #mail in this one and @ in the other. Thanks again sorry if this is clear as mud.

Rerun the mail protection wizzard and see if that solves it.

Sorry to be so much trouble but still the same. What if I go to my ISP and get their email code and try that then run the wizard?

I think I may have figured it out, I shut off the Avast protection for my Outlook Express then changed the settings in the tools, account etc to the settings for my ISP from the 127.0.01. Then I ran the Wizard and it changed the settings “to log on” different than I had before but the 127.0.01 is back. The main thing it looks like I can send and receive from both addresses, at least for now, and it is Avast protected. Thanks again and maybe this will help somebody else.

The problem was the above setting. If using the Mail Protection Wizzard changed the captioned to donagl#mail.adv.tech.com Then everything is ok and you shouldn't have any more problems. If you want a confirmation that the mail has been checked, change your settings accordingly. The smtp tab will do the same thing for the outbound mail. Hope this helps.

Please check and write the user / password manually in that settings. :slight_smile:

Only talking about confirmation of avast checking for viruses not a password confirmation.
