Not sure if it should or not. I have Avast server 2003 installed and running properly on my server. However in the ADNM, it shows up as gray, and doesn’t give me any details on it. Not that I want to manage it from the ADNM, just want all my computers to show up green is all.
Thanks,
David Raynor
Hi,
As stated in the ADNM Manual (page 20) :
Gray computer. This icon indicates that there is no managed product installed on the machine or the machine has not yet communicated with the server. This includes, but is not limited to, newly discovered computers.
You probably did the same error I did :
You had the Avast! Server Edition (only) program installed before the ADNM Console. So you need to remplace it with the Avast! Antivirus (Managed).
This same package, Avast! Antivirus (Maraged), need to be install on each computer you want to control by the ADNM.
Good luck
Make sure you use Custom installation, from Avast! Antivirus (Managed).
By default, the package will install Workstation package. When you specify Custom, you will have access to Server installation feature. Just select the feature needed.
You are correct, I installed the server edition on it prior to installing any of the AD NM software. So now I should install that from the server, and re-install if from the AD NM? In the AD NM under installation packages, select the netserver for package components. Then under deployment tasks, create a new task, and select the previously made package. Then select the server from the list of computers, and run the deployment task created for the server. Just want to make sure I understand the procedure so as to not muck things up further.
Thanks,
David Raynor
Yes, that is the correct way to do it.
It is not necessary to uninstall the Server Edition first – the “NetServer” Edition installer should be able “upgrade” the existing version. Also, please make sure to correctly specify the log on details in the Deployment task, otherwise ADNM won’t be able to carry out the installation.
Thanks

Worked like a charm, Thanks for you help
