Server vs Professional - which product?

Does anyone know what the benefits would be for me to purchase the Server version of avast! (not the small business server but the “simple” server version)?

We only run a web server on our standard Windows 2003 machine (not Windows 2003 Server OS…just standard) with IIS. We don’t have MS Exchange or MS SharePoint or any other special server tools.

Nobody does e-mail on that server; perhaps some occasional web browsing when an admin needs to download an upgrade.

Is there anything “special” in the Server version
that Professional would not be able to handle
in my situation?

Does anyone know of a comparison chart perhaps?

Thanks for any help you might be able to offer.

Since you are not running a server OS, the server edition from Avast will not work for you.
So the choice is easy. get Avast Pro.

Eddy,

Thanks for your response!

When you say the server edition won’t work for me, you me it won’t work in the sense that I’m not in need of a server edition (due to my OS)?

'Cause from a technical point of view, it’s been working for 60 days (trial) and seems to have done its job and all that.

Just clarifying,

I’d say the implication stands “Server OS” → “Server version of avast!” (avast! Professional cannot be installed there), not vice versa.
As far as I know, however, Windows 2003 is a server OS (there’s no non-server version of Windows 2003); so, avast! Pro simply cannot be installed there.

Igor is correct. 2003 is a server OS.
