Hy everyone, When i first installed AVAST, there was allways a small icon on the lower right part of my screen, next to the clock, and now it has disappeared ?!..
And, second question, what should i do with an infected file that has been put in the quarantine section ? Should i just leave it there or should i delete it ?
Thank’s 4 any help…Th.
- Check the option in the Appearance tab of settings.
or - Repair your avast installation through Control Panel.
or - Make a link to ashdisp.exe in your startup folder
or - Add the path to ashDisp.exe into a value named avast! in the Windows Registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
If that does not help, please, uninstall, boot, install again, boot.
They’re safe into Chest (Quarantine).
Let them there for two or three weeks, open the Chest, right click the files and scan them again then. If they’re infected yet and your system is working fine without them, well, you could delete them
As a temporary measure until this is resolved you can create a desktop shortcut for this file C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashDisp.exe (the avast icon and interface to the providers). Right click on the file and select Send To, Desktop (create shortcut), you would need to double click this after you boot to get the icon.
What other security based software do you have that might block new startup entries, e.g. Spybot S&D (TeaTimer), AdAware (AdWatch), SpySweeper, Spyware Doctor (StartUpGuard), PrevX, WinPatrol, ProcessGuard, etc. ?
