Could anybody recommend how to ensure the highest level of security settings for IE 8.0?
I already have my settings set to ‘High’. However, the ‘custom level’ offers the option to further customise and increase the security setting as desired.
What are you settings for the looooooooooooooooooooooooong list in custom level? How do you secure IE 8.0?

I was looking for a basic, easy-to-use guide for IE 8 which recommends how to configure the internal IE 8 settings for maximum security.
I do not tweak IE from it default settings now as I have tried many times and every time I tried lots of thing did not work.
Its just like Firefox then you add stuff to it.
Maximum security? Just don’t use it ;D
I only use IE to manually update Window$ on Black Tuesday each month.
There are really no recommended ‘how-to’ manuals to optimise security in IE 8?
I thought Majorgeeks or those of that ilk would have one, yet when I checked there was no such guide.
If you use just for that, don’t worry too much.
The protection for IE8 is given by keeping it updated at most. The problems are, generally, exploits and they’re corrected by updates (when Microsoft can…).

I was just worried about all the ActiveX bollocks which I do not really understand!
Indeed, I would like to know what the best settings for them are, as some IE settings are embedded in Window$ aren’t they?

I’m posting what I do: use IE only when needed and with a good antivirus behind
IE8 is already quite secure (more secure than FF, at least : ). However, since it’s the most used browser, there are far more exploits for it.
ActiveX are downloaded only if you allow it, so you just need some common sense.
As Tech said, the main thing you can do is to keep it updated.
If you have avast! 5 Pro, you can sandbox it, too.
