Can someone help me in the settings for SMTP?,when i get the box come it is empty except for the number in the section under PORT(25),what is my server address?,is it freeserve which i am under?,and it is also asking( from address)?,.Some help would be appreciated thankyou.

If you’re referring to the “SMTP” page in program settings, these data are used when avast! needs to send something (such as a file from the Chest to ALWIL Software, or some of the user-defined virus alerts by e-mail). So, if you don’t use such features, you can simply leave it empty.
The expected data: Server address and Port are the settings of your e-mail server; these informaion should be given to you by your Internet provider; I think you may find these settings e.g. in your e-mail client where these data should be filled as well. The From address would be probably your e-mail address (it’s just the address that will appear in the “From:” field of the sent mails; can be anything, actually).

I’m trying to do the same thing (I’d like to get an email when my girlfriend computer detects something). I’ve set my SMTP address, but it requires authentication. Emails are not sent.
Can I do this using Home, or do I need Pro?
You will be able to use it into Home version but… you need to wait the next version of it. Smtp authentication will be added as a feature in next version
