I’m in the early stages of testing a client side managed install of avast. Up to now I’ve been using the stand alone which was fine. My issue is though, when i setup the stand alone version i had to include a exemption for a shared network folder, which contained an application which we use to take payments via.
I did create a new install task, and included a exemption for the same network folder, however the payment system failed.
Can the managed version exclude certain network folders?
If it can then i have taken out all of the packers, with the thought that i would gradually build up the packers within the logic that i would find out which is causing the problem. Alas the problem still exists when i did this too.
Managed clients have the same options that a stanalone installation.
If you need to exclude a network folder you have to go to in the AMS Console: Task → Client-side tasks → On-access scanning task → Default Resident Task (click right → Properties —> Standard Shield → Advanced)
Thanks for the reply…but seeing as i have built a new on access scanning task, do i need to add the exemptions to just that task or the default as well? Would the new custom task be divorced from the default task’s config?
Well, you can define your custom On-access scanning task and in this new task you have to configure your exceptions as I indicate in the previous message.
Then, you have to go to the Computer catalog or the Computer group you want to apply this new On-access scanning task and configure it in the properties of the group: Computer catalog or Computer group Name (click right → Properties —> Policies: avast! antivirus → in the field On-access scanning task choose your custom task.
Thanks for the reply…to make things easier, i think that i will just use the default on access scanning task but will amend it to include the exclusions.
Should the exclusions be visible from the installed package on a client pc though? Simply as i have deployed the amended package and it looks like the exclusions have not propogated through.
And to test things further, i’ve added other providers to the on access task, and they went through to the client without any problem. But there still is no sign of any exclusions… ???
