Settings > Scan for PUP

In settings I have scan for PUP ticked. Just wondering if this is best practice as I am thinking that it may block legit software i install.

What do you recommend? Checked or unchecked?

PUP = Potentially unwanted Program - A PUP (potentially unwanted program) is a program that may be unwanted, despite the possibility that users consented to download it. PUPs include spyware, adware, and dialers, and are often downloaded in conjunction with a program that the user wants.

It’s best to keep it enabled since PUP is just normally adware and toolbars which slow you down. On top of that, it gives Avast a higher detection rate.

Plus, when a PUP detection is found and you want to keep it, you can set it as an exclusion.

Good answer! Thanks, I’ll keep it enabled
