Several intrusions detected

This is probably nothing. But it’s not my machine and I don’t have enough access to it to check further into how the computer is acting or what might have caused them. My brother described it as happening when he was using skype, but I can’t access his skype either. I think everything is fine, but I can’t really be sure. :-\

Anyway, my brother has managed to get some pretty nasty infections on his computers before, despite all the protection I have set up, so I didn’t feel like leaving it be without getting some logs from him.

Hi he has both CIS and Avast on the system so there are two antivirus programmes running

CAUTION : This fix is only valid for this specific machine, using it on another may break your computer

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

CHR HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google: Policy restriction <======= ATTENTION BHO-x32: No Name -> {0E8A89AD-95D7-40EB-8D9D-083EF7066A01} -> No File Toolbar: HKLM - avast! Save this as fixlist.txt, in the same location as FRST.exe

Run FRST and press Fix
On completion a log will be generated please post that

THEN

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.

[*]Close all open programs and internet browsers.
[*]Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
[*]Click on Scan.
[*]After the scan is complete click on “Clean”
[*]Confirm each time with Ok.
[*]Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
[*]Please post the content of that logfile with your next answer.
[*]You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.

Thanks I’ll try to get to it when I can.

However I would like to point out that Comodo is set up as a firewall, the antivirus is not installed.

Okay I got to it sooner than I thought I would. Also is it normal for all the browsing history to have been deleted during this process? Just wondering.

Yes, all temp files are deleted to ensure that any malware cannot relaunch. History will also be cleaned as again there may be a bad site in there.

What problems does he have at the moment

Sorry for not responding sooner. According to him there’s nothing happening now that he can notice. He also talked like Skype had been lagging when he typed before, which has also stopped. Not sure if that was related but it’s fine now I guess.

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

: Keep Java Updated :

WARNING: Java is the #1 exploited program at this time. The Department of Homeland Security recommends that computer users disable Java
See this article

I would recommend that you completely uninstall Java unless you need it to run an important software.
In that instance I would recommend that you disable Java in your browsers until you need it for that software and then enable it. (See How to diasble Java in your web browser and How to unplug Java from the browser)

If you do need to keep Java then download JavaRa
Run the programme and select Remove Java Runtime. Uninstall all versions of Java present
Once done then run it again and select Update Java runtime > Download and install Latest version
