Shadows under the windows in Vista. How to remove?

Does anybody knows how to remove the shadows under the windows in Vista?
There is a picture with an example here: http://blogwindows.files.wordpress.com/2007/09/shadow20.jpg
Also I’ll post one.

P.S. Sorry the off-topic. I’ve Google a lot and can’t find a solution.

hello tech  there is a lot of info and links to info here about vista mabe you will find it here TeMerc internet countermeasures fourm http://temerc.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=39  or you can ask there

Searched there for shadow and shadows and it returned zero posts…
Any particular suggestion? Thanks for your help.

could it be here http://www.computerperformance.co.uk/vista/vista_aero_windows.htm#How_to_Control_the_Appearance_Settings

ok looks like i found it here http://www.tweakhound.com/vista/tweakguide/page_3.htm

That certainly looks like it lurkingatu2, I was going to suggest Tech search for drop shadow as that type of effect in image editors is usually called drop shadow.

Sorry, these aren’t the tweaks for the shadows under the windows…

Show shadows under menus
Show shadows under mouse pointer

These commands rule under menu and under mouse pointer and NOT under windows.
Could be this one? “ListviewShadow”=dword:00000001
I can’t find a solution (yet)…

If you don’t need to see transparent window borders you can always switch to Windows Vista Basic color Scheme. Shadows will not be under your windows anymore.

So you have to right click somewhere on your desktop, click PERSONALIZE, Window Color and Appearance and then choose this color scheme I mentioned. Here is example:

But Sasha, Windows Vista Basic color Scheme is poorer that the Aero… I just want to disable the shadows, not all the theme, that is quite better than the Basic

Tech,
Does the following help any?
http://mysharedfiles.no-ip.org/vista/TurnVistasAeroOnOrOff.html

I’ll try, but something is telling me that it won’t help. It’s not a matter of Aero on/off but only shadow…

I’m afraid it’s not going to help… since that’s exactly what happens when you switch to Vista Basic color Scheme like I wrote up there… our Tech wants to be able to use Aero but without a drop shadow under windows…

Sounds like a request which needs to be submitted to M$. ;D

Yes sounds more like a joke ;D but when I think twice, this should be directed to Microsoft for sure. There should definitely be an option to turn that effect on/off. I personally love it because it makes you focus on the central part of the window a lot easier, and of course it makes your active window stand out of the rest of open windows a bit more… but I also understand why some people want to remove that effect. I am sure it would increase the speed of your system a bit (especially those low end systems) and also some people found it too much for their eyes…

I hate things that can’t be configurated…
I’m not concerned with speed, just don’t want that shadow due to visual effects…
Seems that I’ll have to live with it…

Ask to MS? I won’t lose time…

Yeah, I’m sure you would get an answer from Norton customer support earlier than from MS, hehe… ;D ;D ;D
