I just wanna say before I start this thread: thanks, Avast! for the best anti-Virus freeware on the market :)) I’ve been using and recommending your software for a few years now.
Right, I’m curious to know how your File System Shield stats are, as since installing my new laptop at the beginning of the year Avast has yet to find a single infected file (and that with the full-system scan setting on “thorough”). My stats are:
Scanned files: 305783, infected files: 0 (timeframe: 3 months)
I surf the web and download stuff from it a lot…so maybe I’m just careful, or maybe Avast (and Firefox) do such a good job in preventing infected files in the first place that they just don’t end up on my computer. OS is XP SP3 by the way (always have the auto Windows updates turned off…haven’t updated since fresh install so might do that manually now).
What are your stats like? Is it normal that infected files seem to be a much rarer thing nowadays?
