For me? Overkill, and as much common sense as I can muster on the day.
Overkill (isn’t really) = Avast Home, SpywareTerminator, Comodo 2.3.6.81, SpywareBlaster & Guard, bad blocker in Spybot (immuniser) Peerguardian 2 (when using p2p), and a small bucket of on demand applications.
Common sense = Having visited/ still visiting many forums to pick up tips, learn about risks, find the best applications. And to get help fixing it when it’s broke.

Avast Pro Trial, Ewido, SpywareTerminator on demand., Comodo 2.3.6.81, SpywareBlaster, Spybot, Acronis True Image, SSM (paid), sandboxie

Avast - Zone Alarm - Spywareblaster - Windows Defender is all you need. Light(ish) and secure

well i only use avast home, windows firewall and spybot search and destroy coz i don’t want to use a lot of ram without a reason…even if i have 2gb ram…and i scan my pc monthly with bitdefender online scanner to get rid of malwares that the other programs didn’t find…

I have Avast Pro, Comodo Personal Firewall, AVG Anti-spyware (paid version) and SpywareBlaster. And I also check my computer once a week with Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D, and SUPERAntiSpyware

I have…

  • avast! Home Edition
  • Windows Firewall
  • Full-updated Windows XP with non-admin account
  • Full-updated IE 6 and latest version of Opera

look u better install an antispyware program coz u will propably have many problems…i recommend u the spyware terminator coz it has real-time protection and spybot search & destroy for running weekly scans…

Avast Home version 4.7
Command Antivirus 4.93.8 (on demand backup scanner)
Windows Defender
Ad-Aware

and on my other computers I just run Mac OS X ;D

I have Avast 4.7 home, ZoneAlarm Pro, Spyware Blaster, Ad-Aware SE Personal, SpyDefense beta, SpyBot S&D, and Windows Defender.

I’m new here btw, so hello everyone!

Thanks for recommendations.

Actually, I’ve used lots of antispyware to checking from time to time but they come up with nothing except cookies, so I don’t really know why I have to get they installed on my system so I uninstall them after finish the scanning. I don’t have any spyware problems for 5-6 years and never get infected by win32-bit malware so just one good antivirus is enough for me.

avast 4.7 home
ZoneAlarm Free firewall
a-squared Free
AVG antispyware 7.5 (formerly ewido)
Windows Defender (full release)
SpywareBlaster
iespyad
MVPS HOSTS file (and HostsMan to keep it updated)

Note that all these defenses are free. The only other (paid) defense I recently added was a LinkSys router, for its hardware firewall. I’ve detected nothing worse than tracking cookies on this PC in over 5 years.

I run Avast Home, Comodo PFW, and Sunbelt’s CounterSpy (has 32 realtime protections shields) MVPS Hosts file & IESpyad. Firefox 1.5.0.8 is my default browser. That’s it!

i hope u never get infected with a spyware but u better have an anti-spyware program…just to stay away from them…i have been attacked many times by adwares and hijackers and it’s rly annoying coz with hijackers,ur personal information is showed in the internet(ip,country,ur name,ur system info) and it’s rly dangerous…also, they slow ur internet connection dramatically…u don’t want any hackers in ur pc,do u?coz if personal information is seen by hackers, they can get in ur pc and the windows firewall is not well known for its intrusion protection…having an anti-spyware running in ur start up doesn’t slow down ur system annoyingly…

avast! Home
ZAP (Zone Alarm Pro)
Host file (updated bi-weekly)
AdAware-SE (run weekly)
SpyBot S+D (run weekly)
