Hi, I have what looks like Avast server version 4.8 installing the Sharepoint 64 bit provider on a 32 bit Windows Server 2003. I get 2 providers installed 1 running, and when I look at the “On Access protection Control” I see the 2 providers, Standard Shield and Sharepoint 2007, it says the provider is waiting for a subsystem to start but the little green icon for the provider has a 64 on it, and during the install I saw a message pop up saying something about wrong architecture being installed, sorry I didn’t write down all of that message. Any ideas, has it installed the wrong version ? See attached, the standard shield is working fine.
Server is Windows Server 2003 SP2 with Sharepoint 2007 Enterprise.
yes the wrong version is installed, u provided you own answer already actually
the 64bit module cannot run on a 32bit processor. You have to remove avast (first via ADNM and after that (or if the removal via ADNM doesnt work) with the special removal tool) and the create the appropriate package.
since the module is looking for the 64bit version of SP2k7 it will keep waiting for that specific subsystem, since you run a 32bit version of it, the module doesnt see it and cant start and thus it is not protecting your sharepoint right now
I saw that sharepoint 2007 runs on both 32bit and 64bit machines so there must be a 32bit module to install too
hi there, thanks for the confirmation. I created the package in ADNM so I don’t understand why it is installing the 64 bit version. Well I will go back and try again and pay a bit more attention this time. Yes there are 32 and 64 bit versions of SP2007. In fact I already did this 2 ways, once from add remove programs, then adding the modules and once with a package from ADNM, both times same result. Will let you know how it goes.
