Shell scan went bonkers.

I upgraded to the latest version of avast and it worked fine. Today I started it up and when I use the shell extension scan ( the right click scan ) I no longer see that circle showing the percentage and I do not see any files in the box either. Matter of fact it is empty. I know the scan is working because it is in the log and a little box appears in the bottom right of screen. What is strange is I never had that box before. When I scan from the main gui I get the circle and files blipping by, the way it is supposed to be. Anybody know what is wrong? What did I do wrong this time?

Thanks.

Hi

I ran right click scan myself to see if I got same problems as you,I didn,t have any problems,well you can try repair Avast to solve that problem

How to repair Avast?

-Start
-Control Panel
-Add/Remove Programs
-Avast
-Select Repair
-Follow instrcutions
-Restart PC

…and still got same problems?

Thank you

Hi;

I tried that and a clean install but it failed to fix the problem. I was reading in another thread that the problem was caused by importing old settings. How do I prevent that if I reinstall it again? I have XP by the way.

You prevent that by installing Avast from scratch,now you were mention that you tried remove avast with aswclear and still got same problem,I recommend to run aswcler.exe again in safe mode and when you finish with cleaning,download RejzorCleanup tool and run it,don,t forgot to restart pc and install latest version of Avast.

Sorry I should give link for RejzorCleanupTool,here is the URL

Hi;
