Shield icons in my devices are broken

I reinstalled avast! today (long story) on my Win8.1 desktop today. When I attached my installation to my avast account, it attached fine and all the green shield icons and other icons in the my devices panel looked as they should. Then I close the avast gui and re-open it and the icons are all broken…

I uninstalled again and reinstalled again. Same story.
Oddly my WinVista laptop does not have the same problem…

Try a repair and see if that is solving it.
control panel > software > avast > change > repair
reboot after it is finished.

Did that, no luck

Ok, time to try something else.

Let’s see if that is solving it.

I have already tried that (minus the part about the third party tool). I used the control panel and the avast uninstall tool both times yesterday. I am on campus now, away from my desktop until about 8pm EDT. I will try to repair it again one more time.

So when I got home and started the computer, I noticed that the problem was gone.

For some odd reason though when I look at my devices through the GUI and click on my desktop it claims my shields and updates are off (but they are not). When I go to my.avast.com, it says my shields and updates are on. No clue what is going on.

I brought out my Windows 7 laptop. On the GUI on both computers, both computers show the same kind of incorrect information. What I mean is, on my desktop the gui says the same shields off nonsense for both computers, and on my laptop I see the same. Meanwhile, my.avast.com is always accurate.

Is this just another avast glitch with my devices? I remember a while back it used to say my devices were insecure when off…

What exact version of avast are you using?

Avast Internet Security with the latest engine and definition updates

There are times when more than one reboot is required before all things fall into place.
One of those computer gremlins.
