Shields don't automatically start

I’m using Internet Security with Windows 7 Pro. Up until a few days ago, all shields started normally. Now, they don’t start unless I physically enable them. How do I get them to autostart again?

Perform a repair of avast and see if that solves it.

You can Repair your Avast installation by going to Control Panel/ Programs(Add/Remove/change)/ choose Avast and click ‘Change’.
From the Avast setup option choose “Repair” and continue.
Reboot when Repair process is finished
