i have had repeated trouble with this https:// ssgscr.shop pinghelp. net/ (spaces added) etc thing showing up as my default search engine. i can be sitting at the computer and out of nowhere all these things start happening in my browser, leading right to the search engine settings, changing it to this thing. ive searched online for ways to remove it and done several things recommended, but it keeps coming back.
First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member.
Clear browser cache - if as you say you weren’t intending to visit the site.
Start by clearing your browser cache and cookies, including 3rd party cookies and restart your browser.
- If that resolves it you should be good to go.
- If it doesn’t try running your browser with add-ons disabled.
- If that resolves it, have you added or updated any add-ons ?
- If so try disabling that add-on - and restart and try again.
If still not resolved and you are using Chrome based browser
- try this suggestion by Avast Team member ‘lukor’ - What about page notifications? Here: chrome://settings/content/notifications ? Do you have all cleared?
yeah i dont even have a single add on listed, ive done the clearing caches, restarting, etc…
what about the page notifications? i dont have anything listed there either. and no matter how many times..
i go to settings, search engine, i change default, deactivate it, delete it…. it keeps coming back
Have you tried scanning with Malwarebytes. (but do not enable Malwarebytes realtime shields if you are using Avast AV)
Which Browser is affected, or is it all your web Browsers?
Note. I am not an Avast Team member, just another user.
