I copied some files that I needed from a computer in the university to my USB, but when I used it on my laptop it only showed a shortcut (that lead me to some windows file called system 32). I double-clicked on the shortcut and the files appeared but now my laptop is infected and it makes the USB files into a shortcut
I use windows 7
is there way to fix this without formatting?
also, I will probably need to get more files from the infected computer in the university, is there a way to copy the files without getting this virus?
Attach your basic logs. (MBAM, FRST and aswMBR…!!)
Instructions: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0
PS: Also follow the instructions for MCShield.
I’m having trouble with aswMBR
it crashes whenever it reaches a certain file, I attached a screenshot, the last line is where it always crashes
I also attached the other logs
I'm having trouble with aswMBRthat log is usually not needed .... if needed essexboy have other rootkit tools
MCShield log is needed, this you should copy and paste as it sometimes is not readable if attached
If you could post the MCShield log please
CAUTION : This fix is only valid for this specific machine, using it on another may break your computer
Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

I noticed that the tool I use for proxy was partly gone (hotspot sheild), but I had to re-install because lots of sites are blocked in my country (including this one). is hotspot sheild harmful?
also, I had formatted my flash drive before asking for help here, do i still have to do the MCShield? because I thought it was for flash drives, i’m sorry if i misunderstood, I will do it if it’s needed

also, I had formatted my flash drive before asking for help here, do i still have to do the MCShield? because I thought it was for flash drives, i'm sorry if i misunderstood, I will do it if it's neededyou may well do it Since you are going to use your usb stick in school computers according to your first post, this is a tool you need to install and keep, as it will protect you against USB malware
Yes you can use hotspotshield but be aware it may leave you vulnerable. It needed to be removed initially as the network data had to be reset
Yes keep MCShield installed as it is your first line of defence against USB malware
Are you experiencing any further problems
I tried to plug in a flash drive (actually an old cellphone memory card that I haven’t used in a long time) and MCshield performed a scan and said that it was infected, and then it showed a log:

If you do need to keep Java then download JavaRa
Run the programme and select Remove Java Runtime. Uninstall all versions of Java present
Once done then run it again and select Update Java runtime > Download and install Latest version
