Any comments from people who use it.

Can soemone help me here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=50916.0

Recommended, have tried it for 2 weeks now on my laptop, and it is the best i have tested. I normally hate firewalls because of difficult questions.
At home behind my router firewall i use windows firewall

I have used the Outpost Pro version for many, many years now and it has never let me down.

The latest free version is a cut down version of the Outpost Firewall Pro and provides virtually the same protection as the Pro version as essentially it has the same underlying firewall elements, but not the add ons of the Pro version.

There are many discussions here in avast! forums & Wilders on Outpost Free, use the forum search functions.

For many Outpost Free drastically slows down their internet. This effected me when I tried it.

The firewall expert at Wilders reported Outpost Free has weak inbound protection. Inbound is the primary & most important function of a fw.

Just because a fw doesn’t ask difficult questions doesn’t make it good.

The Windows fw has great inbound protection. Router fw’s have good inbound protection, it would be better to use Outpost Free at home with your router firewall & use the Windows fw away from home. Even better is to use a fw with good inbound & outbound away from home & at home.

I was think about pc tools and online armour.

True, but it makes it user friendly. If it is to complicated you end up answering yes to everything

I like the ones that are fully automatic, like Panda, it only ask when a program have been updated and Norton is dead quiet as i can remember

I installed PC Tools Firewall Plus this week. It seems to be running perfectly on my system.

Very user-friendly interface, simple install procedure and is very light on resources. Moreover it plays nicely with Avast Pro and MBAM resident protection.

As to its robustness, you will have to ask the experts on this forum. I believe it is a strong firewall as many trusted forum members recommend it.

I will post again in my other thread once I have a little more experience with the firewall.

Hope that helps.

I have used both , Outpost Pro and Online Armor Premium. I like the AntiSpyware module that is on Outpost Pro its nice to have that extra scanner and protection, I also used the Outpost Free but I experienced Lockup of my PC numerous times where I had to pull power,I tried Online Armor Free and that was very easy not a lot of popups. Currently using Online Armor Premium and its very smooth as was Outpost Pro. I think it’s a bit of personal preference tied into a solid firewall performer.
