I just noticed that the option “show the last popup message” (right click on the icon in taskbar) remains “gray” after an update and can no longer play back afterwards the green popup …
Works great if the last popup is a warning message…
Have you the same thing or should I re-image the disk ?

It remains grey if you rebooted your machine. If you did not reboot or restart your machine, you would be able to right click this and see what the message or pop-up was.
There are many others having the same problem (including me but not only on my XP system and not both as before) and that is immediately after an update notification, reboot or switch user not applicable. From what I can see, some with this problem also have the dual/messed-up auto update notice, though not all.
By all accounts other non-update related pop-ups can be recalled using the “Show the last popup message” e.g. avast alerts, etc.
avast! Free 7.0.1456 has “Show last popup message” greyed out immediately after an update for me too.
on all popup…or only update popups ?
On Avast updating to 120803-0 VPS, I got my first green double advertisement popup. Now the “Show last popup message” is immediately greyed out. All this was shortly after powering up 15 minutes ago.
Yesterday, I wasn’t getting the double advertisement popup and the last popup context menu wasn’t greyed out.
Exactly the same as for “Gopher John”. Haven’t yet had any other popups to recall.
same here…no show last pop up after update…it works for threat alerts though :
it seems that the computer is not involved.
After complete reinstallation of systems from disk images, this problem still appears.
I have windows 7 64 bit + win xp pro sp3 virtualization on my first hdd
and windows xp home sp3 to a second hdd
the problem appears on the three systems …
If a popup warning is displayed i can redisplay it with “show the last popup message” but if it was an update popup i can’t …

HI I just wanted to let someone now that I am also having this issue as well. I have not restarted my computer at this last evening or this morning. Show last popup message is also grayed out as well.

Considering this issue was first reported in October, it would have been avast 8 or on one instance in this topic, avast 7.
So it is possibly something different in avast 9, probably best to have started a new topic.
No issues here on avast 9.0.2008 on my XP Pro and win7 32bit systems.
This morning i was about to reinstall avast hoping to fix it, but upon checking it the “Show last popup message” is back on ???
NO, just rebooted and its gone, time to do clean install

I agree with piemm on the issue about the pop op being grayed out “Show last pop-op message” and no pop-up notification about a VPS when VPS got updated while you are on your computer the whole time (without restarting the computer).
Folks I have just been notified from Avast Support via Support ticket that they are working on a new design of VPS pop up notification message.
