"Show Results" Button doesn't open or show anything.

Hello Everyone,

I recently switched to Avast after being a long-time AVG user. I have scheduled a full system scan once a week. Twice in a row, the scan has completed and the scan window shows “Threat Detected” but when I click the Show Results button, nothing happens. No window pops up, no results are shows, nothing happens at all.

I can’t find any viruses in the vault or anything anywhere. I run a Malware Bytes scan but that doesn’t find anything either.

Why doesn’t the Show Results button open any window or show anything?

Thanks.

  • Which Avast…? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
  • Which version…?
  • OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP…?)
  • Other security related software installed…?

I am having the same issue. I have windows 7 32 & 64 and windows 8. This happens on all 3 of my computers. Malwarebytes custom scan finds nothing. IK am running Avast IS with license on all 3.

Oops! Sorry…

Windows 7-64 bit
Avast Free 2015

I have Malware Bytes Free version installed. I run it manually on occasion.

Which exact version…?

Hello,

Exact version number is 2015.10.0.02208

First, be sure to get rid of all remnants of your prior installed AV(s)…!!
https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB11

Then:

  1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

But i just installed Avast with license (not free) and it is doing this. How do i find my license number or activation code or whatever it is for re-installation?

Which exact version…?

Can’t get to that computer right now that has the newest. Give me a little while.

No problem, take your time…

Hello all,

Ok, I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled. I have run a couple of scans but no threats have been found yet so I’m not sure if the “Show Results” problem is fixed. I originally had a clean install of Avast on a new PC, so previous AV software shouldn’t have been an issue.

In either case, I uninstalled with the Avast utility and did a clean install.

I’ll report back if the problem was fixed.
